Twisted Comfort Food

DSC02073
Love that caramelization!
I love lamb. I mean, I really love lamb. Probably 90% of all my food posts on Instagram are of some sort of lamb dish. It's just so delicious and kinda fancy pants. Especially when I pair it with some red wine sauce...

But this time, I went for a spin off this homey comfort food - Shepherd's Pie. I had some leftover roasted sweet potato so I mashed that up instead of going through the regular potato-boil-and-smash steps. The sweetness lent the dish a nice balance of flavors, atypical of traditional Shepherd's pie. I highly recommend. Bonus benefit - it's healthier!

Lamb... oooo yeah.

Dishes like these are basically some of the few things I actually like about the sub-zero weather. Although, I'm sure it would taste just as good in LA-freezing temperatures (aka 60 degrees).

Enjoy, and keep warm!

  1. This looks delicious! I've never attempted to make a shepherd's pie, but I might. It would help definitely help warm me up with all this snow we keep getting!
